Ce programme de courts-métrages explore les mondes des enfants et des jeunes Palestinien.ne.s en mettant l’accent sur différents environnements sonores. Des bombardements ressentis à travers les vibrations à Gaza aux sons des jeux vidéo qui simulent la réalité vécue sous la domination coloniale, les composantes sonores du cinéma sensibilisent profondément les auditeurs à la violence du colonialisme sioniste.
Ce programme est co-présenté avec The Raah Lab de l’Université Concordia. Le Raah Lab vise à examiner l’intersection des processus migratoires et des pratiques médiatiques à travers des recherches à la fois théoriques et basées sur la pratique. Il adopte un modèle axé sur la communauté pour réunir des universitaires, des activistes et des partenaires communautaires afin d’explorer les questions de l’immigration, de l’hospitalité, de la marginalisation et de leurs formes médiatisées.

Our short film program “Young Voices” explores the worlds of Palestinian children and youth through an emphasis on different soundscapes and voices. From bombardments felt through vibrations in Gaza to video game sounds that simulate lived reality under colonial rule, the sonic components of cinema intimately attune listeners to the violence of Zionist settler colonialism.
This program is co-presented with The Raah Lab at Concordia University. The Raah Lab aims to examine the intersection of migratory processes and media practices via both theoretical and practice-based research. It adopts a community-driven model to bring together scholars, activists and community partners in order to investigate the questions of immigration, hospitality, marginalization and their mediatized forms.

Notre dernière soirée de projection est centrée sur les histoires de femmes palestiniennes qui ont combattu et résisté avec force au sionisme sous toutes ses formes et dans tous les lieux où il se manifeste. Les deux films présentés reflètent respectivement l’expérience de la guérilla et les souvenirs obsédants de l’incarcération dans les prisons israéliennes, offrant des détails riches et importants à des récits souvent réduits au silence.
Ce programme est co-présenté avec Maison Palestine ~ Dar Filastin. La projection sera suivie d’une discussion avec le cinéaste Karam Abu Ali.

Our final screening night centers around the stories of Palestinian women who have powerfully fought against and resisted Zionism in its many forms and sites. The two films presented respectively reflect on the experience of guerilla fighting and the haunting memories of imprisonment in Israeli jails, offering rich and important detail to often silenced narratives.
This program is co-presented with Maison Palestine ~ Dar Filastin. The screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmaker Karam Abu Ali.
